Emily Proud is a San Francisco-based artist best known for her watercolor paintings. Born and raised in San Francisco, she currently lives and works in the Richmond neighborhood. She holds a B.A. in Fine Art from UCLA.

Emily's paintings showcase the unique traits of their medium, studying relationships of color, composition, and negative space. Her paintings are made either slowly, building layer upon layer of pigment on the paper, or in quick choreographed movements, to finish before the paint dries. Some aspects of her work are thoughtfully mapped out, while others are deeply intuitive. Over time, Emily has developed a visual language of motifs, revisiting and reworking these images over and over again. Her pared-down style often references the landscape, sky, as well as everyday objects and observations from the artist’s life.
