Emily Proud is a San Francisco-based artist best known for her watercolor paintings. Born and raised in San Francisco, she currently lives and works in the Richmond neighborhood. She holds a B.A. in Fine Art from UCLA School of the Arts & Architecture.

Emily's paintings showcase the unique traits of their medium, studying relationships of color, composition, and negative space. Her tranquil paintings are made either slowly, building layer upon layer of pigment on the surface of the paper, or in quick choreographed movements, to finish before the paint dries. Over time, Emily has developed a visual language of recurring motifs, revisiting and reworking these images over and over again. Her pared-down style often references the landscape, sky, human body, and other everyday observations from the artist’s life.
